After engaging in verbal spats for weeks on TV and magazines, sex video stars Hayden Kho and Katrina finally came face to face at the hearing before the Committee on Women, Children and Family on Thursday, 22 May.
If the hearing was held in aid of legislation, I failed to hear any substance that would aid that cause. Instead what I watched was a supposedly private affair that turned into a public scandal complete with sex, drugs, lies and videotapes.
For a second I was determined not to blog about that Senate circus, but the more I watch the central figures in this drama on TV the more annoyed I get. I was rolling me eyes the entire time that I was afraid I would be permanently afflicted with "ceiling eyes' syndrome.
They should all just shut their pie holes already. The hearing should not have been made public. It should never have happened at all. But this scandal is a media mileage that is just too precious to pass up for attention-whoring lawmakers.
Jinggoy Estrada. Wow he was fierce in that hearing when he was berating that lawyer for Hayden Kho. Uhm, Jinggoy, acting fierce will not make me forget the bunch of shit for movies you made before you successfully conned the public into electing you in the Senate.
Jamby Madrigal. I got the impression that the sex video scandal is secondary to her. She's after a bigger fish and that is the well-known figure who supplied drugs to Hayden Kho. At the end of the hearing, when she asked Hayden Kho if he would be willing to reveal the his drug supplier in an Execution executive session, I was thinking "Aren't you defeating the whole purpose of an executive session if you've already announced to the public that Hayden Kho will reveal the identity of his drug supplier?" Why not asked after the public hearing? Grandstanding much?
Jamby thanked Katrina for her courage and added many women would be thanking her.
Bong Revilla. Ass kissers are saying Bong Revilla's image and reputation are not at issue. The sex video scandal is. Okay. Pede bang magfocus sa kabobohan ni Bong Revilla? His line of questioning is what made the public hearing in aid of legislation" deteriorate into an emotional outburst from Katrina Halili.
"Ano ang nararamdaman mo ngayon?" "Ano ang naging epekto ng eskandalo sa career mo?" These are questions more suited for the courts where getting the sympathy of the judge is half the battle of getting a favorable decision. My point is what legislation can you draft from knowing Katrina Halili is angry and she's not getting any new projects since the scandal broke? Wala di ba?
The question on why Hayden Kho did not stop himself from using drugs when he knew very well that it is illegal. Bong Revilla had nothing else to say when Hayden Kho retorted "Minsan mas malakas ang tawag ng sex." because he can relate with that feeling.
And Bong Revilla's question of what software Hayden Kho used in transferring the videos from the video recorder to the laptop. Nagmamagaling.
I wanted to reach out to the TV and pop him in the mouth every time I hear him say the word "babuyin." It's not credible coming from him.
Abner Afuang, the person who doused water on Hayden Kho before the start of Senate hearing. Another attention whore. He was so overcome with emotion that he couldn't help himself. Or so he says. This is the same person who stages hunger strikes and all sort of gimmicky stuffs to make papansin. Come down from the cross. The price of LPG is increasing again, so I'm sure many people could use the wood.
Afuang belongs to some press organization. He will be suspended or reprimanded but not evicted from the organization. Well, sayang ang annual membership fee.
Hayden Kho. I can't say anything nice about a guy who can relate to the lyrics of "Too Young." Seriously, he would have turned out differently had fame and fortune not come too easily and too early for him. Bad things happen to those who videotapes themselves cheating on their girlfriend and with their guy friend's girlfriend.
I'm waiting for the guy to just off himself. He will not be able to have forgiveness and redemption, if that's what he's after. In this country where the majority values self-righteousness? Forget about it.
Katrina Halili. Who wrote her opening statement? Only a teleserye writer writes that kind of drivel. Excerpts:
I could feel vomit coming out of my mouth. If that was intended to garner sympathy, it did the opposite. I got annoyed because it was soooo pathetic. She's trying to portray herself as an innocent victim and she's not. Someone who knowingly capitalizes on her fake body for fame and fortune is not a victim. Someone who had a relationship with Mike Magat in her teens is not a victim. A starlet who constantly lies about her relationship with the opposite sex (coughkrislawrencecough, coughhaydenkhocough) is not victim.
And her line about "patay na siya may video pa rin siya." Dear, by the time the Senate is done with you, so is the public's interest in your sex video. You're not the first woman to have a sex video scandal and you won't be the last.
I hope Katrina is the last one. Pero walang pangil ang batas dito. So it all boils down to values. It seems like "let's make a sex video to prove your love to me" is the new "you will go to bed with me if you really love me." Girls, just say no.
Hayden Kho took those sex videos. Katrina Halili knew she was being taped in some of the videos, in others she doesn't. Two of Hayden Kho's friends are the main suspects in spreading the videos. Eh ano ngayon, Bong? Makakabuo ka ng batas using these information? The Senate is above all these information.
I was hoping to see IT specialists being grilled on how to detect the source of an online sex video link. I was hoping to see software people who know about devices that will allow parents to monitor their child's Internet surfing activities.
Instead mga walang kwentang kadramahan, grandstanding at kabobohan ang nakita ko.
