Somewhere in Turkey, a groom accidentally killed three relatives at his wedding when he fired into the air with an assault rifle in celebration.

Eight other people were wounded at the incident at the village of Akcagoze in the South Eastern province of Gaziantep.

The groom lost control of an AK-47 rifle and accidentally raked the guests with bullets.

His father and two of his aunts died in hospital.

Suffice to say, the groom is not enjoying his honeymoon.

Turks are notorious for breaking out into gunshots to celebrate weddings and sports victories, a practice that has caused many deaths and which authorities have so far failed to curb.

I automatically think of Ylmaz Bektas when I hear "Turkey" mentioned. It's really a testament to how far I've come that I don't associate turkey with poultry anymore. :p

Someone Hates Sarah Geronimo's Dad

And I am not surprise, why? Not that I am condoning violence.

The father of popular singer and actress Sarah Geronimo was assaulted inside the parking area of the ABS-CBN network’s ELJ Building, in Quezon City, at around noon on Sunday (August 8).

Geronimo's father Delfin, 55, was shaken by the attack at 12:50 p.m. but he got away without injuries.

A suspect in the attack, Paulino Mercado, 43, has been arrested and placed in police custody. The suspect who claimed he had a gift from a beauty product company was waiting for the actress' father at the parking area.

The suspect used a stun gun on Geronimo’s father who was able to escape from the suspect and seek help from the security guard who arrested Mercado.

Police are investigating the motive of the assault.

A few months back, Sarah Geronimo's father made showbiz news when he was alleged to have confronted, complete with hand gestures ( I didn't know Sarah's father is Italian), in the hallways of ABS-CBN.

It was alleged that the father told Rayver, in a not-so-polite way, to "Leave Sarah alone!" or words to that effect.

As a result, Sarah lost a potential beau and Cristine Reyes gained one.

I'm not saying Rayver has anything to do with the assault. I'm saying a check on the family of trees of Rayver and the suspect could not possibly hurt.

Charlie Davao Has Passed

It was just in the news yesterday evening that friends and colleagues held a reunion of sorts for Charlie Davao. According to son Ricky Davao, his dad has colon cancer and that they don't know what stage. Now this.

Veteran character actor Charlie Davao passed away at the Philippine General Hospital Sunday after battling colon cancer for months.

In an interview on radio dzBB, talent manager German "Kuya Germs" Moreno announced the elder Davao's demise. The details of his wake and interment will be announced soon, he added.

Mr. Charlie Davao, one of our best character actors, passed away the morning of August 8.

Davao last appeared in GMA evening programs "Darna," "Rosalinda," and "Totoy Bato." He entered show business in 1959.

Self-proclaimed eventologist and alleged member of the infamous Gucci gang Tim Yap is to undergo surgery after a cyst was discovered in his throat during a checkup at St Luke Medical Hospital. Habitues of Tim's bar and avid customers of his "goods" need not worry because the cyst is not life threatening.

Manny Pacquiao Sister Arrested for Illegal Gambling

While Jinky Pacquiao is making Vicki Belo richer with her regular visits to Belo Clinic, her husband Manny's sister, Isidra Pacquiao-Paglinawan, is trying to make ends meet through illegal gambling.

Isidra and 26 other people are charged in court as gambling paraphernalia and cash were discovered during a raid at Isidra's house on July 29.

Isidra must be hard up if she can allow her house in a good subdivision to serve a fronton for a numbers game called "Last Two."

Maybe Jinky will find it in her heart to pawn one of her Hermes bags for her sister-in-law's bail?

And maybe Aling Dio-nee-sha could forego her regular hair straightening sessions, her derma appointments and ballroom dancing lessons to fund her daughter Isidra's counter charges against the police who allegedly illegally raided her house.

The Newest Baby Daddy in Town

How time flies! It was just a few months ago that LJ Reyes announced that she is pregnant by boyfriend Paulo Avelino. Really, did she have a choice? The tummy speaks for itself. Now the news that LJ Reyes has given birth in the states.

LJ gave birth to 7.4 lb Ethan Akio on July 24 via normal delivery.

So how was the baby daddy? Not where LJ and baby are fer sure. Methinks Paulo is happy though he can only be present in spirit. Not that it's his fault, mind you. It's the US Embassy's fault. All the things that are wrong in this world can be blamed on the US Embassy. Poverty, war, human trafficking, clandestine organ donation. You name it, the US Embassy is at fault.

Seriously, if Paulo Avelino, who is famous (okay, not very) and has a high paying job in the Philippines can be denied a visa twice, I no longer wonder why a certain friend got denied hers.

What do you do when that visa is almost within your reach and the blackhearted consul at the embassy snatches it away? I haven't talked with my friend yet but I imagined that upon seeing her passport without a visa she wished a major tsunami would sweep the entire US embassy along Roxas Blvd away. Well, if it was me I'd wish that.

Where's the justice? A first time father denied of seeing his son first enter this cruel word and breath his first breathe. And there's my friend who just wanted to go to the US to attend a conference on medical equipment. Justice, where are you?

Kris Aquino is Baacckk!

It's like she never went away in the first place.
Admit. Not a day went by during Kris Aquino's three-week absence when we didn't hear news about her. And she said she'll be keeping a low profile while her brother, Noynoy, is Philippine president?
The plane she arrived at on July 31 was still unloading passengers but Kris already spoke with entertainment reporters and her good friend Boy Abunda to spill all about her troubled marriage with James Yap, her rumored pregnancy and her love prospects.
On the rumored pregnancy, I'm a bit (okay, a lot) skeptical over who really let it out that she is pregnant. Kris claims she's pissed about the rumor but she's also a spotlight seeker and adoration addict.
On her love prospects, there are four: Gerald Anderson, Coco Martin, Chiz Escudero and Jun Jun Binay. I got the feeling that while Kris is trying to downplay the love angle with Jun Jun Binay, she's kinikilig deep inside.
And kinikilig is not what she's feeling for her husband James Yap. Well, not anymore, not since April 26 (yup, with an exact date). There's also a song that goes along with the state of her feelings "It Must Have Been Love" by Roxette. Chiz Escudero!
The sisters have asked Kris to stay away from romantic involvements for six years. Let's see. If Kris' addiction to fame and attention is stronger than her need for peen love for fairy tales fairy tale endings it won't be long before Kris makes Jun Jun Binay her main bitch.
